Your boat's digital companion

Digital service book, history, reminders, boat data — for a smoother boat experience.

Why boat.life

Keep the record. Protect the value.

A well-kept boat is a well-documented boat. Log every service, repair, trip and upgrade as you go — you'll predict issues, catch small things before they become big ones, and avoid problems on the water. And the next owner inherits a boat with its full history intact.

  • Free, always

No subscription, no paywall. Keep a full digital service book for every boat you own.

  • Yours, privately

Your logs stay private by default. Share with your family, your mechanic, or a buyer — on your terms.

  • Handover-ready

Export a clean, professionally laid out service history the day you decide to pass the boat on.

  • Increase your boat's value

A well-documented boat sells better. A full service and refit history makes your boat easier to sell and easier to price. Let the work you've put in speak for itself.

  • Reduce costs

Cut service costs and reduce the risk of expensive repairs by keeping up with regular maintenance.

boat.life

Your boat's digital companion

Your boat. Your trips. Your memories. Yours to keep.

boat.life is built on a simple promise: the information about your boat belongs to you — not to a chartplotter brand, not to a marina app, not to us. It follows you when you change navigation system, when you change phone, and even when you sell the boat.

Everything about your boat in one place

Specs, manuals, equipment, receipts, service history and reminders — gathered by you, owned by you, never locked inside someone else's hardware.

Your logbook is your memory

Every trip you log stays yours. When you sell the boat you keep the logbook — those are your routes, your weekends, your memories.

Hand over the boat, keep the history

When it is time to sell, you transfer the boat's record to the new owner in one tap. They get the maintenance history. You keep your trips and notes.

Available everywhere

Phone, tablet, web — the same data, no lock-in. Export whenever you like. No proprietary file format stands between you and your history.

Other systems rent you access to your own boat. boat.life gives it back.

Connect your boat

boat.lifeConnected

See your boat live

Your boat's own systems report in around the clock. Boat.Life turns the readings into live values, history you can compare and alerts that reach you before something becomes a problem.

See your boat live

Speed & engine

RPM, engine hours and speed logged automatically.

Batteries

Voltage and charge level, on board and ashore.

Temperature

Engine, fridge and cabin temperatures over time.

Humidity & bilge

Damp and water where it should not be.

Position

Where the boat is — and where she has been.

Tank levels

Fuel, fresh water and holding tank at a glance.

Live values, right now

Battery voltage and state of charge, engine hours and temperature, tank levels, bilge, temperature on board and position — always current, wherever you are.

History and trends

Every reading is kept, so you can zoom out over a day, a season or the whole life of the boat and see how values drift over time.

Alerts when it matters

Set your own limits — low battery, high engine temperature, bilge pump running, temperature below freezing — and get a notification the moment a limit is crossed.

Theft and intrusion alarm

Not just position. A boat that moves outside its berth, a hatch or door that opens, shore power that disappears, the battery suddenly drained, motion on board or an engine started while you are away — any of it triggers an alarm on your phone.

Understand problems earlier

Compare the trend against your service book: a battery that charges slower each week or an engine running warmer than last season shows up long before it strands you.

No ads

Your service book and logbook — completely ad-free.

This is your information about your boat. We will never place ads in your service book or logbook, and we will never build ads from your data.

Never ads in your data

Your service book, logbook, photos and notes stay ad-free.

No profiling

We don't build an ad profile of you or your boat.

Follow companies if you want

You can choose to follow yards, dealers and brands to see what they share — always your call.

Sharing

Share your boat, your way

Your boat, your data, your rules. Choose exactly what you share and with whom, and take it back whenever you want.

Renting out or lending your boat?

Give someone time-limited access. They see manuals, information, and equipment. If they spot something that needs fixing, they can log it for you. Their trips and stories stay in their own logbook, not yours.

Create a polished presentation for potential buyers or ads. A complete, well-documented boat makes a stronger impression and helps you get a better deal.

Features

Your digital service book, beautifully kept.

Tech specs & equipment

Engine, rig, dimensions, onboard inventory — your boat's full spec sheet and gear list in one place.

Service book

Add what you've done, keep what you plan. Every job, receipt and reminder lives with the boat.

Recurring maintenance

Set seasonal and recurring reminders — winterising, antifouling, safety checks — so nothing slips through.

Reminders

Remember small things to buy or fix. Set time or geo alerts, build shopping lists per area, and never arrive at the boat without what you need.

Manuals & documents

Keep engine manuals, schematics, invoices and certificates next to the boat they belong to.

Planning & checklists

Organise per boat with reusable checklists, seasonal plans and passage prep — so every trip starts ready.

Your boat's own knowledge

From the pile of manuals and invoices — to answers in seconds.

Drop in your engine manual, the yard's invoices, service receipts, schematics and the forum post that saved your weekend. boat.life turns it into a searchable record for your specific boat — not generic advice from the internet.

  • Everything in one boat record

Manuals, schematics, invoices, service reports and notes — uploaded once, organised around your boat.

  • Ask your own documents

“When did I change the oil filter last?” gets answered from your invoices and logs, with the source one click away.

  • A real service logbook

Every maintenance action lives next to the document that proves it — chronological, searchable, never lost in an inbox.

  • Stays with the boat

Sell her or hand over to new crew and the full history goes too. New owners step aboard knowing exactly what was done, when, and why.

  • On the pontoon, in the engine bay, at home

Same record on phone, tablet and desktop — so the work and the answers travel with you.

  • Private by design

Your documents are yours. We never sell them and never use them to train public AI models.

Ask your boat
When did I last change the oil filter?

Last on 14 June 2024. The oil filter was replaced during a service at Skärgårdsvarvet (Volvo Penta D2-40).

Our story

From boat owners' need to a whole boating community.

We built boat.life because we needed it ourselves. We've spent years on the water, and like every boat owner we know the feeling — the beautiful sails, the perfect sunsets, and then that moment when something makes a sound you don't recognise.

We wanted a single place for our boats, our families, the places we visit and the trips we take. Maintenance logs, things to bring back and forth, quick notes so nothing gets forgotten. And we wanted to remember it all — not just the specs, but the stories, the people, the moments that make a boat a life.

The community part grew naturally. Once friends came in, we wanted to find others nearby, people in the same harbour, people with the same boat model, someone who had already solved that weird engine problem. Boating is very much about helping each other, and we try to bring that together here.

What started as a personal tool has become a home for your boating life. Your boats and your places at the core — your family, your friends, the harbours and the neighbours who help each other out on the water. A place to remember, to connect, to belong. Always there when you need them.

— Christian & David, founders of boat.life

From boat owners

Quiet confidence, every season.

I spend a lot of time and money on my boat to keep it in order. And it gets used so few days a year, so it really has to work when I'm out there. boat.life helps me keep track of what needs doing so I don't run into problems.
Henrik
Owner · 34 ft sailboat
I love that I can keep track of all the maintenance. For me it matters most when I sell the boat, because I know I will at some point, and having a proper service book is going to help me get the most value out of it.
Anna
Owner · classic motor cruiser
There are a lot of functions in boat.life and I can't wait to see what comes next. The in-harbour messages, the service book, and the AI (I'm a Pro member) that scans and categorises receipts on its own. And the geo location reminders. I just love it for keeping track of things.
